Literature Publication
It needs no furlough and is never considered a foreigner.”

Myra Noel is Caprock Baptist Church’s missionary in Literature Publication. Myra began working with Missionaries Tom and Krinny Gaudet in 1998. She received on-the-field training in typesetting (Desktop Publishing). Most of her typesetting is done with foreign languages. She and the others on the Team typeset Scriptures, Scripture portions (New Testaments, John Romans, individual books of the Bible, etc.), tracts, discipleship materials, and various other resources that have been written or translated by others.
In 2006 it was determined best if Myra remained in the States while the rest of the Gaudet team returned to Thailand. They had been praying for some time for someone to work from an office in the States. In spite of working a second job to help with higher living expenses in the States, Myra continues in the ministry work.
Since 1998, she has had the opportunity to help in the following ministries:
- Typesetting literature in many languages
- Outreaches in several countries
- Training others in Typesetting and publishing foreign languages
- Using the web to get resources to others
- Missionary Presentation DVDs
- Websites for churches and missionaries
- Using videos to share missions needs and opportunities.
Myra’s help in the video editing has mostly been limited to support roles. She has helped with photo and audio editing and graphic creation for those who are doing the actual video work.
FAQ
Q. How many languages do you speak?
A. I only speak English (and a few words of about a half-dozen other languages).
Q. How can you translate the literature when you can’t speak the language?
A. I do not translate. The translation and writing of materials is done by other missionaries and national pastors. The literature is then given to us (most often already in the computer in a word processing program) and we do the layout work in a format that the printers can use. This involves setting page size, margins, font & font size, formatting headings, page numbers, chapters, etc. It can be done without understanding the language. It is always proofed again by someone who speaks the language after we finish typesetting it.
